What this licence allows
- Applying clear, resin-based or pigmented liquid coatings that dry to an adherent film for decorative or protective purposes. The licensing category includes texture coatings and minor surface preparation/repairs directly associated with painting. A standalone contract only for internal painting does not require this licence, but painting included in other residential building work can form part of licensed work.
Qualifications
Complete one of the following accepted qualification pathways:
- CPC30620 Certificate III in Painting and Decorating.
- CPC30611 / CPC30608 / BCG30603 Certificate III in Painting and Decorating.
- BCG30498 Certificate III in General Construction (Painting and Decorating), TAFE course #8063.
- Qualification 11766 Certificate III in Painting and Decorating, TAFE course #2155.
- Certificate III in Painting and Decorating Trade, TAFE course #5129.
Experience
No separate minimum experience period is prescribed.
Individual applicants must meet the National Police Check requirement and cannot be issued the licence or certificate while still an apprentice or trainee.
